Pixar is in production GutA new animation feature about the Black Cat from Venice, Italy, to be released in cinemas in the summer of 2027.
Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer Pete Dotter released the film today (Friday, June 13th) at the end of Pixar’s slate presentation at the Annessy International Animation Film Festival.
Gut Nero, a black cat who lives in Venice, cannot swim and must navigate a town filled with superstitious people about him.
Nero coincides with “the suspicious aspect of cat society,” and finds Dotter benefits from a cat boss named Rocco.
He loves music and is fascinated by another outsider, a street musician named Maya.
The film is directed by Italian filmmaker Enrico Casarosa, who previously directed Pixar. Luka.
Speaking on Annecy’s stage, Docter said the film “sought to capture the pictorial texture of Venice while maintaining the depth and dimensions that have come to expect from Pixar.”

When viewing the Pixar release schedule at the end of the presentation, the dotter confirmed it Unbelievable 3 and Coco 2 It will be released on 2028 and later.
