Justin Bieber praises the Maple Leafs after a playoff loss to the Panthers
Hopes to win the Toronto Maple Leafs’ 14th Stanley Cup and wait for the NHL’s biggest award for 58 years ended after a 4-3 series defeat with the Florida Panthers.
After winning the opening two matches, it looked like it would be a dominant series for the Maple Leafs, but the Panthers had other ideas and won the next three consecutive matches.
In 3-2, the Maple Leafs who enter their sixth encounter were make or break, with Auston Matthews, the second-highest paid player in the NHL leading his team to a 2-0 victory and leading the series to the final game.
However, despite predictions for the seventh game of the series, the Panthers pushed the Maple Leafs aside and advanced to the NHL playoff semi-finals with a 6-1 victory.
One guy who has been very vocal in this playoff series is Justin Bieber, a global superstar and Maple Leafs fan who took part in the final game in Toronto.
Despite the disappointing outcome, the music star remained positive about the Maple Leafs display, and along with his wife, Haley, posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram.
Bieber said: “I don’t remember the time I’m not obsessed with the leaves. This year we’ve made it farther than we’ve had for a long time. I’m happy about it.
As mentioned earlier, the Maple Leafs have not lifted the Stanley Cup in nearly 60 years, but there have been significant signs of improvement in recent years.
Between 2006 and 2016, the Maple Leafs once played in the playoffs (which they do in 2013), but have been participating in the playoffs every year since 2017.
