US President Donald Trump called for immediate evacuation of all Tehrans shortly after Israeli forces told some residents of Northeast Tehran to leave ahead of planned strikes on what was called “military infrastructure.”
The announcement came on the fifth day of hostilities between Iran and Israel.
Iranian state media confirmed that Israeli airstrikes had been attacked by the capital, and reported an overnight explosion and a massive air defense fire.
On Monday, Iran launched a wave of pre-dawn missiles in Israel, killing at least eight people, and spurring further Israeli retaliation throughout the day.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday claimed that the strike had returned Iran’s nuclear program to “year,” and said he had contacted Trump every day, leaving Canada’s G7 Summit in reports that he was heading to Washington with a ceasefire deal.
