From peaceful victims to supporting protests to fiery rage
The day began with a quiet rage as locals gathered at the park near Cronavon Terrace. However, as the sun sets, tension erupts and Barry Mena lights up for all the wrong reasons.
The crowd marched along Larne Street and Queen Street, but it didn’t take long for the rage to make a violent turn. There were riot police who were caught in the wake of windows being destroyed, roads being blocked and armored vehicles and drones being caught in the presence of chaos.
“We are urging everyone to stay calm and be responsible,” sued Secretary Sue Steen, who warned that the disability “is only a greater risk.”
“Our priority is to keep our community safe and I appeal to everyone to cooperate in ensuring that they settle in their community as soon as possible.”
Despite the calm and repeated calls, the riot continued into the late night. PSNI warned drivers and pedestrians to avoid Cronabon Road “until further notice.”
Court shock causes anxiety

“A tragic scene” and tensions rise
TUV leader Jim Alistair claimed the demonstration began as a “completely peaceful protest” driven by what was called “increasing concerns about the enormous scale of migration” to Barrymena.
“That unidentified migration, a source of tensions between the past and future beyond what the town can deal with,” says “it’s a very disastrous thing to see scenes of violence on the streets of Barrymena. It’s easier to start than stop these things.”
Some residents have condemned the violent turn, while others have expressed their complaints on social media that authorities “ignoring the racial background” of the recent incident.
However, Chief Sapto Steen remained focused on restoring order, and the presence of police remains overnight “to monitor the situation and ensure public safety.”
