Exclusive: Emma Hewitt, communications leader at BBC Film, is a member of the UK’s Creative Industries Independent Standards Authority (CIISA) as Director of Corporate Affairs.
Hewitt will lead the CIISA strategic communications and public relations efforts. She will take on a role later this month.
Industry-funded CIISA launched its first standard framework in February, with its mission to prevent and tackle bullying, harassment and discriminatory workplace behavior in the creative industry, beyond screen, music and theater.

Hewitt has been the communications lead for BBC films since 2018. She is also co-chair of BIFA’s advisory committee. Before the BBC films, Hewitt was the assistant director of BFI press and PR and began his career at local screen agency Em Media.
2024 – Former PR executive Claire Gascoine, who got a job with Hewitt in BBC Films in 2025, has temporarily rejoined the BBC Films team.
