In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Packers added the WR room with first and third round picks. Green Bay chose Matthew Golden of Texas and Sabion Williams of TCU.
Those newcomers will join Jaden Reed, Romeo Dubus, Christian Watson, Dontavilon Wicks, Malik Heath and Mecor Heatman. The Packers WR core is trapped for the 2025 season. Former WR Bo Melton is giving CB a shot due to WR crowding in 2025. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal’s Sentinel reported that the coach was impressed with Melton and gave him the opportunity.
Will Bo Melton switch to CB full time?

On the seventh pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Seahawks chose a WR boat from Rutgers. During the final cut in August, Melton was released from the team and eventually signed with Green Bay. As a rookie in 2023, Melton played five games and got off to a single start with the Packers. During the 2024 sophomore campaign, Melton played in all 17 Green Bay games. Additionally, he played 32% of the team’s special team snaps last season.
This offseason, the Packers chose two WRs using advanced draft capital. It seems incredibly difficult for Beau Melton to create a Packers roster as the WR of this season. However, his coach has not given up on him. Recently, Green Bay released veteran CB Jaire Alexander. The team is thin in CB and head coach Matt LeFleu wants to give Melton the opportunity.
Bo Melton has proven he is versatile for the Packers and is hiring a rep for CB this week. General Manager Brian Gutekunst mentioned how several players were able to switch from WR to CB in the history of the league. One modern example is Bills’ CB Tre’davious White. Before joining Buffalo he was a full-time college WR. White got off to an 86 start with CB for bills for eight seasons. Who would say Bo Melton wouldn’t be able to make similar changes and become the starting CB in the NFL?
