Former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has revealed that he has stopped smoking weeds before his UFC 316 rematch with Merab Dvalishvili.

“Suga” aims to regain the UFC Bantamweight title, which lost to Dvalishvili in UFC 306 at Sphere last September.

Sean O’Malley reveals he has quit smoking weed

Ahead of his rematch with Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 316, former Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley revealed he has stopped smoking.

“Suga” doesn’t keep a secret the fact that he enjoys smoking marijuana from time to time, but has stopped smoking weeds for the past few months while preparing for the biggest fight of his life.

O’Malley pulled out all the stops ahead of his rematch with Dvalishvili. He has trained with Israel Adesanya and Demetrius Johnson, and is away from social media.

But the biggest change O’Malley has made is stopping smoking weeds.

In his early days at the UFC, O’Malley was smoking weeds on Snoop Dogg and has always supported marijuana on a large scale. While he has remained a proponent of smoking weeds, O’Malley revealed in 2025 that he had no smoking weed at all.

He said this was not just a fight with Merab Dvalishvili, who broke silence with a reported toe injury, but he wanted to create a complete lifestyle change.

In a recent interview with Jim Roma, O’Malley revealed that he is taking weed detox this year and that he hasn’t spent time on social media.

“I don’t think I smoked again this year. I’m not smoking weeds forever. I definitely enjoy them, but it gave me this anxiety I really didn’t want.

I don’t know if that’s a mixture between social media and smoking, but that’s what I meant to say is, “Hey, let’s take a break). We’re stopping social media, we’re stopping this. We’re stopping that. Let’s take a break.” And that feels really good too.” I admitted O’Malley.

In addition to quitting smoking weeds, Sean O’Malley also revealed that he has a full social media detox ahead of his UFC 316 rematch with Merab Dvalishvili.

“Suga” cleansed some of his habits to give him the best chance to become a two-time UFC Bantamweight champion. Stopping smoking and moving away from social media are two major lifestyle changes made by the American MMA Phenom.

In a chat with Jim Roma on Wednesday, May 28th, O’Malley admitted that she left social media and felt that she had a total detox this year was very good.

“There’s probably not much that can be said to be ‘life-changing’, but they say it’s coming down from social media. They’re still running. I’m still making content. There are teams still doing that, but they actually went on Instagram, went on Snapchat, joined Twitter, and changed their daily lives completely. The former 135 pound king said.

The 30-year-old admits that he feels better than ever before with his rematch with Dvalishvili. It remains to be seen whether these changes will be different from the outcome of their second fight.

Dvalishvili vs O’Malley 2 is the headline for the upcoming UFC Pay-Perview event at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. This fight is the main event for UFC 316, which will be down on Saturday, June 6th.

These lifestyle changes that O’Malley made may benefit him in the octagon when it comes to fighting nights. “Suga” has made so many changes, but one thing about him hasn’t changed at all. His confidence.

“I know I can beat Merab.” O’Malley said.

“He’s open to being knocked out. I’m sure I can put out his lights, and I’m sure I can beat him in a five-round battle. There’s no doubt that he’ll be able to put out his lights, but I’m ready to go for 25 minutes. I’ll have to dig deep.”

Until the heading UFC 316 for the UFC Bantamweight title, Merab Dvalishvili vs Sean O’Malley Rematch, it won’t be long. What will this be Dana White’s next UFC PPV event on June 6th?
