Overnight Russian missile and drone attacks on Kiev killed at least four people and injured 20 people, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said air sirens sounded during the wider combined attack across Ukraine.

Klitschko said search and rescue operations are ongoing in several locations.

Multiple explosions were heard in the capital. In Kiev, debris lit across several districts as the anti-digestion system attempted to intercept incoming targets, said Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kiev city government.

“Our air defense forces do everything possible, but we have to protect each other.

Authorities reported damages in several districts, and rescue workers responded at multiple locations. They urged residents to look for shelter.

A fire broke out on the 11th floor of a 16-storey residential building in the Solomiyansky district. Emergency services evacuated three people from the apartment and rescue operations were underway. Another fire broke out in the metal warehouse.

Tkachenko said the metro truck between the two Kyiv stations was damaged in the attack, but no fire or injury occurred.

According to Dmytro Bryzhynskyi, chief of the region’s military regime, in the northern region of Chernichv, it exploded near apartment buildings, shattering windows and doors. He added that explosions from ballistic missiles have also been recorded on the outskirts of the city.

The nighttime attack was a surprising detour from Trump’s often stated appeal to stop the Three Years’ War after President Donald Trump said it would be better for Ukraine and Russia to “fight for a while” before separating them and pursuing peace.

US-led diplomatic efforts to stop the war for more than three years have not brought about much progress, and the war of shattering attrition continues unabated.
